Miles Morales to have his own Spiderman Movie

Miles Morales to have his own Spiderman Movie

Heads up!

Miles Morales, the black-hispanic version of Spiderman, is set to get his own solo movie. Reports have it that as part of Sony Pictures Animation’s media presentation last January 18, producers of the standalone animated Spider-Man movie shared the awesome news that their storyline will indeed feature Miles.

I think the timing is awesome specially nowadays with the issue of racism affecting US, at least the minorities get to be represented.

The storyline has yet to be announced though, but expect “a lot of heart, a lot of action, and a lot of laughs” as per Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directors of Sony and Marvel’s untitled animated movie.

As of now, it looks like the Miles-centric movie won’t connect with the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe – in which Tom Holland plays the Peter Parker version of Spidey.

So let’s watch out for that!

Spider Tobey is amused

Tobey did a swell job suiting up as our favorite web slinger and some say he’s the best for the job. But I’m giving Tom Holland a shot here. Specially since Marvel will be working closely beside Sony for the upcoming film. So here’s a mild shot at Tobey’s Spiderman out there.

Here at herozonePH we are fond of superhero trailers, so the second I saw that there was a new trailer for the forthcoming Spiderman: Homecoming film, I immediately typed this post down.

So this is for you…

Spiderman Homecoming Official Trailer

Robert Downey Jr. co-stars in this Spiderman reboot as Iron Man. So does Marissa Tomei as Aunt May (If you watched this year’s Captain America: Civil War you should have known it already, but if not pardon me for the spoiler).

Spiderman: Homecoming is slated for August of 2017. Check that out. As for me, well it’s time to go! Till next trailer.

Marvel vs DC

Marvel vs DC

marvel vs dcPhoto Credit

Tale as old as time, just as the Beauty and the Beast theme song says, that’s how long Marvel and DC have rivalled each other. From comics issues to today’s cinematic universe, it’s a raging war especially for both fans of both parties.

There are also times that they copy each other, especially their characters (I’d write about that in another post, sadly I can’t at the moment). But I’d like to point out some of the major differences between these titanic companies.

1. Location

We all know that Spiderman is from New York, so does the Avengers and their likes. Batman is from Gotham, Superman is from Metropolis. Get it? While Marvel tends to picture their heroes in real life locations, DC somewhat does it fictionally. Did I get that right? Now moving on…

2. Powers

Whilst, the X-men initially treats their powers as curse, Superman and the likes on the other hand on DC tends to treat theirs as blessings. They are given this and are called to embrace their powers and abilities.

3. How they got their powers

Superman’s power was inherent, as with Supergirl and Wonder Woman. Spiderman got his in a freak accident, so does Hulk. Captain America got his through some serum. DC tends to hold their hero born with their abilities or the ability to hone it at a young age. Marvel on the other hand made it look more grounded, more relatable since the heroes more usually get their powers in freak occurrences happening in their universe or immediate surroundings.
From my samples, there are some exceptions, but ultimately these are what I think the major differences between the two comic behemoths.

Here are some more differences between Marvel and DC from Watchmojo’s Youtube channel:

The Top 10 Supervillains of Marvel Comics

Counting down the Top Ten superhero villains of Marvel (LIST) – Numbers 1o to 6.

10. Onslaught

supervillains of marvel comics - onslaught

A psionic entity created from the conciousness of Professor X and Magneto, Onslaught came to existence after Magneto ripped the adamantium sheets from Wolverine’s skeleton. Xavier used his telepahatic powers to shut down Magneto’s mind. In return, the psionic contact, Magneto’s anger, grief, and lust for vengeance entered Xavier’s consciousness, mixing with every long-suppressed negative feelings Xavier had endured during the last 30 years. This aggregation resulted in the being known as Onslaught.

Onslaught’s power consists of telepathy, telekinesis, energy projection, sensing mutant presences, manipulating magnetic fields, and affecting reality itself. Onslaught can also enhance its physical size and strength.

First appearing in 1996, Onslaught has crossed over several Marvel series, including the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and Cable comics.

9. Dark Phoenix

When she was 10 years old, Jean Grey demonstrated mutant telepathic powers first after experiencing the emotions of a dying friend. Seeking help for their daughter, her parents sought the help of Professor Charles Xavier, who introduced young Jean to the astral plane as a way to distract and train her telepathic abilities. But as she was using this exercise, a part of her mind manifested as a Phoenix.

Xavier erected psychic shields in Jean’s mind to prevent her from using her telepathic powers until she was mature enough to control them.

In a mission in outer space, Jean was struck with solar flares and was noticed by the Phoenix Force which took note of her unlimited potential.  As Dark Phoenix, Jean used telepathy and telekinesis, but in outworldly levels. She was able to rearrange the molecular structure of matter and fly at supersonic speeds.

Dark Phoenix made her debut in Uncanny X-Men #101-108 from 1976–1977.

8. Galactus

The “Devourer of Worlds”,  Galactus is a god-like Marvel Supervillain who devours worlds to satisfy his eternal hunger.  Galactus debuted in The Fantastic Four #48 in March of 1966.

Too powerful to be defeated by any one hero, he is portrayed as a force rather than a being, a god of destruction that is deaf to pitiful pleas, although he seems to be driven by a deeper understanding of the universe than mere mortals – as he once stated he is ultimately destined to give much more than he has taken from the universe.

It is later revealed that he is the only one stopping Abraxas, an entity that had the potential to erase all of reality on a whim, from being released to the universe.

7. Ultron

As we are obsessed with computers taking over the world, it seems to be the inspiration for writer Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema when they concocted Ultron in 1968.

Ultron is a criminally insane rogue sentient robot dedicated to conquest and the extermination of humanity, he was made by Dr. Hank Pym. Dr. Pym AKA Ant Man / Giant Man, endowed it with consciousness, using a copy of his own brain patterns as the basis for the robot’s programming; however as with its creator, Ultron inherited Pym’s great intellect and mental instability. The instant the robot was activated, Ultron developed a hatred for its creator or “father”and the entire human race.

Throughout the comics, Ultron rebuilt himself completely four times, making improvements and modifications each time. He made his war against humanity, particularly the Avengers which counted Dr. Pym among its members, to catastrophic proportions.

6. Dr. Octopus

Dr. Octopus or Otto Octavius is a mad scientist often characterized as  stocky, myopic man who utilizes four powerful, mechanical appendages, and is obsessed with proving his own genius and destroying Spider-Man. A brilliant and respected nuclear physicist, inventor, and lecturer. His genius in radiation is so exceptional that Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four sought him to offer his expertise when his wife, Susan Storm AKA Invisble Woman is suffering from complications on her 2nd pregnancy due to the cosmic radiation that has given their team their powers.

Doc Ock, as he became known, is one of Spider-Man’s main villains having many iconic battles with our favorite web-slinger for years. His crowning achievement was the near-fatal stabbing of Spider-Man’s then-partner/lover, the Black Cat, who was placed in critical condition. This led to the vengeful Spider-Man nearly killing him.

Zendaya – Rumors about Spiderman: Homecoming

After the commotion about Zendaya being casted, probably as MJ (I checked with IMDB now and it’s not Mary Jane Watson but Michele), another rumor is spreading that Zendaya may not be the preferred love interest of Peter Parker in the Spiderman Homecoming movie.

zendaya-spiderman-homecoming

ComicBookCast2 (YouTube Channel)

Liz Allan, played by Laura Harrier, (Is this a mis-cast since in the comic Liz Allan is blonde?) is rumored to be Parker’s love interest in the movie. In the comics, she is Flash Thompson’s girlfriend (Flash is a  star high school football player who mercilessly bullies his high school classmate Peter Parker but greatly admires Spider-Man), she also somewhat bullies Peter but soon develops a crush on him when it was rumored that he IS Spider-man. By this time, however, Peter’s interest has waned considerably, as he notes that Liz never showed any real interest in him until he began dating Betty Brant, and assumes that Liz’s feelings are little more than a schoolgirl crush.

As the movie draws nearer its release, details are coming in smoothly. Spiderman: Homecoming is slated for July 2017, watch out for that.

SpiderMan Homecoming to have musical score from same composer as Doctor Strange

SpiderMan Homecoming to have musical score from same composer as Doctor Strange

The musical score for SpiderMan Homecoming will come from the same composer of Doctor Strange

Marvel Studios, with Sony Music, are going massive lengths at making sure the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming is just as great as the recent superhero film releases. And probably greater than the previous takes on the Spiderman movies franchise. It is a long time since we had seen Spider-Man in his own film (the recent one starring Andrew Garfield), and with Marvel’s success with Doctor Strange, what better way than a followup by the same genius Michael Giacchino for its musical score.

Spiderman Homecoming - Avengers Civil War

Here’s a sampling of Michael Giacchino from Doctor Strange:

Michael Giacchino was the man behind the musical scores of Doctor Strange (Marvel), Star Trek Beyond, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He will once again be providing the score for Spider-Man: Homecoming according to an announcement made at a Q&A for SpiderMan Homecoming with the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, and the director of Doctor Strange, Scott Derrickson.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is expected to land in theaters July 7, 2017, with the casts including Tom Holland (as Peter Parker/SpiderMan), Marisa Tomei (from My Cousin Vinny and The Wrestler, as Aunt May), Robert Downey Jr. (as Iron Man, The Avengers), Zendaya (rumored as Mary Jane Watson), Michael Keaton (rumored as Vulture), Bokeem Woodbine, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Tyne Daly, Donald Glover and more.

Also read: Spider-Man: Homecoming is getting a prequel comic, because yes, Marvel is doing it.

From AVclub:

Marvel does usually release tie-in prequel comics for its movies that fill in some background details that aren’t explicitly underlined in the final film. So, it won’t be especially surprising if it does the same for Homecoming.

That being said, Homecoming being a reboot of the Spider-Man movie series means background details are going to be a bit more crucial…

We will all be waiting how the new Spiderman Homecoming movie turns out!
