I know, I know I messed somehow.

Laziness has taken me these past months that I semi-shelved this piece. Saw Wonder Woman and it floored me, just like it floored everyone else it seems. I just couldn’t write about her because every other article I saw in the net has praised the beloved heroine. I am also so lazy that I haven’t updated the DC article and haven’t touched the comics as well. I am sorry. Day job is an a*hole. Again I am sorry.

Watched Spider-man: Homecoming yesterday. And I liked what I saw. It was a fresh new take on our beloved character that even new kids from the 2000’s can even identify (Spidey’s big screen image has been rebooted 2 times already and has been played by 3 actors, so far).

This is Peter Parker struggling through his teens part, the essence that the two previous outing didn’t tackle so much, maybe because they were played by older actors. This is the growing up Peter time. Spidey at his most hilarious.

Tom Holland, although in my taste not the matinee idol face you can think of, pulled by far a superior performance of the three actors. Maybe because this time Sony, with my head nodding, sought the help of the Marvel gurus to help with their script and make Spider-Man fresh again. They didn’t need to doubt, as Marvel gave us this wunderkind of a film. No longer do we have a predictable death scene of Green Goblin and Gwen Stacy. What we have now is fresh storyline that nobody can guess.

I think that is the magic of the MCU. It gives us a new fresh prespective of what we read in the comics and make it fresh and brand new on-screen.

I thought Tony Stark would dominate the scenes but no, he took the back seat when he needed to and made Spider-man into the foreground. It’s basically the story of Spider-man like we aren’t used to. And because of this I just can’t wait for Thor to come-out. So far the MCU has brought in two critically acclaimed movies in Guardians of the Galaxy and Spiderman, it only keeps getting better and better.

Beauty and The Beast Review

Beauty and the Beast 2017 Film Review

It’s been long since I posted something in here. It really feels new.

But for a “tale as old as time”, it’s been a fresh rehash of a classic Disney movie.

Okay, there is a few new twists in the movie; if you watched the old animated movie it’s basically the same. But it never dawned on me that this is an all-star cast; I only learned about this after the cast were basically turned back to humans. I started pointing out the cast to my girlfriend. Oh, there is Magneto, there is Obi-Wan, and so on.

Basically, the movie is almost entirely a musical, with a few more new songs inserted throughout the movie. Luke Evans is fantastic as Gaston although he looks so much mature for Emma Watson‘s Belle. Emma Watson‘s casting is splendid since she captured the essence of Belle – bookish and well-educated.

As with Disney tradition, comic relief was satisfyingly abound in the movie. Disney feels all-over. Of course, you can never miss singing along the familiar songs and be mesmerized by the visuals of the movie, although I have a small comment. When the cameras pan around it made me a little dizzy. But just slightly.

It is a family movie after all, anybody can enjoy – young and old, maybe the older even more because it brings up memories of childhood when we dream of castles, damsels, and princes alike.

If only real life were like that.

They have announced it – Star Wars The Last Jedi

They have announced it – Star Wars The Last Jedi

Star Wars The Last Jedi!

I was browsing Facebook when the Star Wars page dropped this gem:

Star Wars The Last Jedi

It’s even more intriguing because Luke is there and he’s back as being the last of the Jedis?

Following the events of the   J.J. Abrams directed The Force Awakens, The Last of the Jedi promises to answer a lot of lingering question about the last episode.

The Last of the Jedi opens in December 2017. Excited for that.

Warner Bros working hard to get Attack on Titan

Warner Bros working hard to get Attack on Titan

If you don’t know what Attack on Titan is, it’s basically genetically made giants attacking (eating, devouring) human civilization and humans trying to survive the carnage. Very much like this:

Written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, this series has been made more popular by its anime adaptation. The series is full of great action and gruesome imagery, butchery if you will, and it became very successful across the globe. So naturally, Hollywood would attempt to give the series a Western spin (Cash! Cash! Cash!).

I really don’t know how this will turn out specially with how poor Hollywood has treated past anime adaptions into live actions (Dragon Ball, et al.) but I guess it can top this monstrosity:

The second season of Attack on Titan (anime), which has been a long time coming, will finally debut in April 2017.

Is Jared Leto teasing us of a Killing Joke live action?

Is Jared Leto teasing us of a Killing Joke live action?

From Jared Leto’s Snap Chat:the cover of the killing joke from jared leto snapchat

When somebody connected to the DCEU posts something like this, especially if he currently plays the Joker himself, you have to wonder if something big is in the works.

Jared Leto, playing the Joker in the Suicide Squad just did that.

Using his snapchat @JaredLeto, he teased us with Alan Moore’s critically acclaimed storyline The Killing Joke. This is the first time Leto has posted anything Joker-related on his Snapchat since the filming of Suicide Squad when he posted a photo of his green hair.

So what do you think? It’s gonna be a happy one if this pushes through.

Miles Morales to have his own Spiderman Movie

Miles Morales to have his own Spiderman Movie

Heads up!

Miles Morales, the black-hispanic version of Spiderman, is set to get his own solo movie. Reports have it that as part of Sony Pictures Animation’s media presentation last January 18, producers of the standalone animated Spider-Man movie shared the awesome news that their storyline will indeed feature Miles.

I think the timing is awesome specially nowadays with the issue of racism affecting US, at least the minorities get to be represented.

The storyline has yet to be announced though, but expect “a lot of heart, a lot of action, and a lot of laughs” as per Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directors of Sony and Marvel’s untitled animated movie.

As of now, it looks like the Miles-centric movie won’t connect with the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe – in which Tom Holland plays the Peter Parker version of Spidey.

So let’s watch out for that!

Depressing news leaks from Wonder Woman

Depressing news leaks from Wonder Woman

superhero movies 2017

Say it isn’t so…

Reports by express.co.uk tells us of sources speaking out about Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman movie being “very disjointed, disappointing, full of the same problems and stinks just like Batman v Superman”.

As we can all remember, Batman v Superman was a hype train, earning great when it opened, but after being panned by critics and some movie fans alike, took a huge dip in its second week onwards.  Suicide followed, but same results.

So obviously fans of DC has naturally put their hopes  on the next best thing, Wonder Woman, to redeem past mistakes. But a source said it is not going exactly into plan.

From express.co.uk:

During an episode of the Schmoes Know show on YouTube, host Sasha Perl-Raver revealed that the same insider who said Batman v Superman would ‘stink’ says exactly the same about the upcoming Wonder Woman.

She said: “So, I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus.”

“We have somebody within our community who has gotten insider information that broke my effing heart this week, because I have tremendous belief that Wonder Woman is gonna be awesome.

“I heard it stinks from the same person who told me that they heard that BvS stinks.”

She added: “The person who I spoke to…their response was ‘I’m very disappointed in what I saw, and it seems like all the problems are the same problems.

“It’s discombobulated, it doesn’t have narrative flow. It’s just very disjointed.”

This isn’t the first an insider has claimed Wonder Woman will be bad.

The insider, a Warner Bros employee, wrote an open letter to CEO Kevin Tsujihara.

It said: “Don’t try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it’s another mess.

“It’s almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes over and over.”

In the end, let’s be the judge to that, but let’s hope it’s not as bad as they are saying. Wonder Woman comes to theaters in June 2017.

Warner Bros, still cluless on how to solve the DC puzzle

Warner Bros, still cluless on how to solve the DC puzzle

Word is out that although WB has promised a much darker and edgier alternative to its Marvel counterpart, Batman V Superman and The Suicide Squad have failed to live to its billing according to critics, who continuously pan out the films that WB produce.

And now more trouble is coming. Rumors are swirling that the new Justice League- which will finally feature DC’s answer to the Avengers with power superhero cast such as Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Flash, Aqua Man and Cyborg – is a mess.

What now? Photo Credit

There are hints that the movie is suffering from plot and general coherence, something that has bugged the previous films as well, and which has called for fans asking WB to sack Zach Snyder as its director (Zach for his part has directed the new Superman movies). And not only that, it seems to have also affected the upcoming stand alone Ben Affleck-directed Batman movie (who’ll also act on the role). Sources are saying that the slated Spring filming has been moved back to Summer.

Ben too hasn’t been too keen on doing it either, in answer to a question about his plans to direct: “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way, I think it’s really great I’m not going to do it.” (via movieweb.com)

As for the Justice League, we have teaser trailers to keep us excited, but as far as the Suicide Squad goes, which gave us good trailers, we still have to wait how the movie actually looks like when it hits theaters on November 17.

(I have to note that I liked the Suicide Squad movie no matter what).

Guess who’s back?! Lex Luthor.

After much speculation Jesse Eisenberg is back as the bald guy who is the arch nemesis of Superman, Lex Luthor. Loved him or hated him in Batman V Superman, he’s back as Slashfilm reports.

Thor: Ragnarok will feature Dr. Strange

Thor: Ragnarok will feature Dr. Strange

Dr. Strange actor
Dr. Strange – Benedict Cumberbatch

You hear it right, after rumors swirling that Mr. Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Marvel’s sorcerer supreme in Thor: Ragnarok, Disney has confirmed it.

In a statement from Disney’s D23 website, it reads “If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new”.

Of course, there was a spoiler for this (if you cared to wait) in the end credit for Dr. Strange where Thor seems to request some favor from the Doctor.

Excited? We’ll have to wait ’til November to actually watch the movie.
