They have announced it – Star Wars The Last Jedi

Star Wars The Last Jedi!

I was browsing Facebook when the Star Wars page dropped this gem:

Star Wars The Last Jedi

It’s even more intriguing because Luke is there and he’s back as being the last of the Jedis?

Following the events of the   J.J. Abrams directed The Force Awakens, The Last of the Jedi promises to answer a lot of lingering question about the last episode.

The Last of the Jedi opens in December 2017. Excited for that.

Warner Bros working hard to get Attack on Titan

Warner Bros working hard to get Attack on Titan

If you don’t know what Attack on Titan is, it’s basically genetically made giants attacking (eating, devouring) human civilization and humans trying to survive the carnage. Very much like this:

I think you need a dental floss. Photo Credit.

Written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, this series has been made more popular by its anime adaptation. The series is full of great action and gruesome imagery, butchery if you will, and it became very successful across the globe. So naturally, Hollywood would attempt to give the series a Western spin (Cash! Cash! Cash!).

Warner Bros Attack on Titan movie

I really don’t know how this will turn out specially with how poor Hollywood has treated past anime adaptions into live actions (Dragon Ball, et al.) but I guess it can top this monstrosity:

The second season of Attack on Titan (anime), which has been a long time coming, will finally debut in April 2017.

Is Jared Leto teasing us of a Killing Joke live action?

Is Jared Leto teasing us of a Killing Joke live action?

From Jared Leto’s Snap Chat:the cover of the killing joke from jared leto snapchat

When somebody connected to the DCEU posts something like this, especially if he currently plays the Joker himself, you have to wonder if something big is in the works.

Jared Leto, playing the Joker in the Suicide Squad just did that.

Using his snapchat @JaredLeto, he teased us with Alan Moore’s critically acclaimed storyline The Killing Joke. This is the first time Leto has posted anything Joker-related on his Snapchat since the filming of Suicide Squad when he posted a photo of his green hair.

So what do you think? It’s gonna be a happy one if this pushes through.

Miles Morales to have his own Spiderman Movie

Miles Morales to have his own Spiderman Movie

Heads up!

Miles Morales, the black-hispanic version of Spiderman, is set to get his own solo movie. Reports have it that as part of Sony Pictures Animation’s media presentation last January 18, producers of the standalone animated Spider-Man movie shared the awesome news that their storyline will indeed feature Miles.

I think the timing is awesome specially nowadays with the issue of racism affecting US, at least the minorities get to be represented.

The storyline has yet to be announced though, but expect “a lot of heart, a lot of action, and a lot of laughs” as per Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directors of Sony and Marvel’s untitled animated movie.

As of now, it looks like the Miles-centric movie won’t connect with the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe – in which Tom Holland plays the Peter Parker version of Spidey.

So let’s watch out for that!

Depressing news leaks from Wonder Woman

Depressing news leaks from Wonder Woman

superhero movies 2017

Say it isn’t so…

Reports by express.co.uk tells us of sources speaking out about Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman movie being “very disjointed, disappointing, full of the same problems and stinks just like Batman v Superman”.

As we can all remember, Batman v Superman was a hype train, earning great when it opened, but after being panned by critics and some movie fans alike, took a huge dip in its second week onwards.  Suicide followed, but same results.

So obviously fans of DC has naturally put their hopes  on the next best thing, Wonder Woman, to redeem past mistakes. But a source said it is not going exactly into plan.

From express.co.uk:

During an episode of the Schmoes Know show on YouTube, host Sasha Perl-Raver revealed that the same insider who said Batman v Superman would ‘stink’ says exactly the same about the upcoming Wonder Woman.

She said: “So, I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus.”

“We have somebody within our community who has gotten insider information that broke my effing heart this week, because I have tremendous belief that Wonder Woman is gonna be awesome.

“I heard it stinks from the same person who told me that they heard that BvS stinks.”

She added: “The person who I spoke to…their response was ‘I’m very disappointed in what I saw, and it seems like all the problems are the same problems.

“It’s discombobulated, it doesn’t have narrative flow. It’s just very disjointed.”

This isn’t the first an insider has claimed Wonder Woman will be bad.

The insider, a Warner Bros employee, wrote an open letter to CEO Kevin Tsujihara.

It said: “Don’t try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it’s another mess.

“It’s almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes over and over.”

In the end, let’s be the judge to that, but let’s hope it’s not as bad as they are saying. Wonder Woman comes to theaters in June 2017.

The lowly rated Assassin’s Creed movie review

The lowly rated Assassin’s Creed movie review

Review: Assassin’s Creed film

Assassin's Creed reviewAre you not entertained? Maybe Not. Photo Credit.

And I was so keen on watching this.

Being a fan of its games and its roots taken from history, I had high hopes for this movie until I saw it first hand and was utterly disappointed.

If you haven’t seen the movie, see it first and you be the judge if you agree that the movie is as sad as I am writing now.

Meet Callum Lynch (played by Micahel Fassbender) the main protagonist of the movie. At the start he was just a boy doing some parkour stuff that the assassin’s do in the game. Probably in preparation for his future self? Or is it because he’s born in the line of the assassins? But why does it seem he has no idea of his roots? The movie doesn’t resolve.

He comes home, finds his mother dead by his father’s hand. His father told him to run. Time jump to 30 years later. Callum is a convicted criminal sentenced serve to death penalty. Asked what his last words should be, he said that he’ll meet his father in hell. (Ok understandable.)

As justice is being served to him, the first death serum creeping up the valves into his veins, Lynch is visibly shaken, probably a hint of regret for his part, then came the end. Sort of.

He awakes inside a lab with beautiful Marion Cotillard, Sofia for those who have seen the movie. She has saved him only to confine him for research, a quest for the missing “Apple of Eden”.

This is where Mr. Lynch enters the world of the assassins. They used technology “Animus” to tap into Lynch’s genetic memory to access Aguilar, the last known assassin to have possessed the “Äpple”.

It seems to me that the movie was just cashing out on the game’s world-wide popularity as it didn’t give us any new storyline to follow. Casting is superb, but with a bland story, it isn’t really the casts’ fault if their acting come out as bland also. Just take for example the ending in which Callum is set to recover the Apple from modern day Templars led by Jeremy Irons. There was no build up, the excitement wasn’t there it’s as if it was expected that Mr. Iron’s will die in Mr. Fassbender’s hand. After these events, maybe a little over 20 minutes in real time, we see the assassin’s miles away standing on roofs while Marion Cotillard looks on (as if she can see them?).

I couldn’t really like the movie and if I was home I would have slept to it halfway. The pace is slow there is no excitement you might even repeat what Callum had to say in the movie “What the fuck is going on?” That’s the entire mood.

Rating 1.7/5

100 years after it was written, Lord of the Rings spin-off novel is set to be released this year

100 years after it was written, Lord of the Rings spin-off novel is set to be released this year

You read it right, 100 years after it was written, J.R.R. Tolkien‘s story about Beren and Lúthien will be published this year.

Beren and Luthien

Harper Collins will release the book sometime in 2017, and will tackle the story about Beren, a mortal man and Lúthien, an elfen maiden. The couple appeared in The Silmarillion, and was mentioned by Aragorn, whose relationship with Arwen in The Lord of the Rings is very similar to that of Beren and Lúthien.

The story, first released in a 12-volume series called The History of Middle-Earth, will now be available as a standalone book that includes illustrations by Alan Lee and passages from several iterations of Tolkien’s work.

Hope for upcoming movies for this. I just hope they don’t milk it and drag the story too long like they did with The Hobbit.

Warner Bros, still cluless on how to solve the DC puzzle

Warner Bros, still cluless on how to solve the DC puzzle

Word is out that although WB has promised a much darker and edgier alternative to its Marvel counterpart, Batman V Superman and The Suicide Squad have failed to live to its billing according to critics, who continuously pan out the films that WB produce.

Not so happy now, are we? Photo Credit

And now more trouble is coming. Rumors are swirling that the new Justice League- which will finally feature DC’s answer to the Avengers with power superhero cast such as Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Flash, Aqua Man and Cyborg – is a mess.

What now? Photo Credit

There are hints that the movie is suffering from plot and general coherence, something that has bugged the previous films as well, and which has called for fans asking WB to sack Zach Snyder as its director (Zach for his part has directed the new Superman movies). And not only that, it seems to have also affected the upcoming stand alone Ben Affleck-directed Batman movie (who’ll also act on the role). Sources are saying that the slated Spring filming has been moved back to Summer.

Ben too hasn’t been too keen on doing it either, in answer to a question about his plans to direct: “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way, I think it’s really great I’m not going to do it.” (via movieweb.com)

As for the Justice League, we have teaser trailers to keep us excited, but as far as the Suicide Squad goes, which gave us good trailers, we still have to wait how the movie actually looks like when it hits theaters on November 17.

(I have to note that I liked the Suicide Squad movie no matter what).

After much speculation Jesse Eisenberg is back as the bald guy who is the arch nemesis of Superman, Lex Luthor. Loved him or hated him in Batman V Superman, he’s back as Slashfilm reports.
