As promised here is my review. Not too much spoiler I promise.

Saw the movie just yesterday with my GF and my Sis. We were in a couch cinema just to make us more comfy (Were supposed to take a flight that afternoon but for unknown reasons its been delayed so to kill time, watch movie.) So ok opening scene. Thor yupping blah blah. Then off to a fight scene then cut to opening credits.

I think the Marvel formula for real is beginning to bore me. I mean I can see the commercial value of this movie. It’s meant to make Thor more appealing, I get it. But I am beginning to see a certain pattern that deep inside makes it predictable for me.

Ragnarok is full of fun. From the jokes to the small voiced rock-man. (Small spoiler.)

I can happily say that both my GF and Sister swooned over when Chris Hemsworth showed some flesh (Girls, Duh!). Story is ho-hum but you won’t get too emotional over the rather lazy first act. It is in the second to the last act where the action picks up if there is enough action in the film (for my liking it looks a lot less. A lot less than the second movie.) Cate Blanchett was an effective villain. The new girl Valkyrie (which in the comics is Thor’s love interest) is great on-screen. Hulk is still Hulk. Edris Elba goes Jamaican. (Éy man!)

The villain is the shortest movie exposure time in all the MCU’s villains, IMO. Nuts I thought it was Ragnarok, but it was only shown at the bitter end, making you hang in a tiny thread. You see Thor in full god of Thunder glory for about 5-10 minutes. He maybe bad-ass but its half assed because of the limited time showing. There are too many side quests for my liking. Maybe the extensive trailer made it predictable for me? I don’t know. But if you’re after commercial value and continuity watch Thor. If you’re going for story though there’s a pint inside you that goes WTF.

Would I recommend it?

Thor Ragnarok

Chris Hemsworth returns as the god of thunder in another sequel about Thor. Thor has been subpar at best when compared to other Marvel beloved heroes like Iron Man and Captain America.

But early return from critics, like Rotten Tomatoes who pegged the movie at 99% fresh, is a welcome development. Maybe the more colorful and comedic trailers helped boost interest for the movie, as well as the much anticipated Avengers movie the Infinity wars whatever the case its definitely a must watch movie specially if you don’t want to be left behind by your friends when it comes to details.

I haven’t watched the movie myself but expect me to have my own review of this very soon. For those fortunate enough to already watched it, hit the comment below and tell us what you think. Just don’t spoil it for us.

Incoming popcorn! Cheers!

Thor Ragnarok. In movie Theaters right now.

So Marvel teases 3 characters to die in Infinity War

So Marvel teases 3 characters to die in Infinity War

It has been teased that at least 3 characters will die in the upcoming movie Infinity Wars. The MCU has not been a stranger to character deaths losing characters such as Quicksilver, Phil Coulson (kind of), and Frigga over the years.

The hype is real ever since leaked teasers for the film surfaced online. And it will not culminate soon. I was browsing 9gag just this morning and I must say this got me laughing out loud.

As to who really will die haven’t have an idea. We’ll just have to wait for the movie to come out then.

‘Til next time lads.

Top 10 Most Iconic DC Supervillains (Part2)

Top 10 Most Iconic DC Supervillains (Part2)

I missed writing here. I mean I do, that’s before laziness ensues and I just get stuck in bed and contemplate what’s next… Err that’s beside the point.

Here is the continuation of our list of iconic DC villains that I wrote a long time ago if you care to search it (Actually I want you to have the convenience and linked it).

5. Black Adam

Otto Binder and C. C. Beck in 1945 as a one-shot villain for the first issue of Fawcett Comics’ The Marvel Family comic book.

Adam’s origin is told from comicvine:

Adam was born to the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II in the neighboring (fictional) land of Kahndaq. While there are contradictory accounts of the circumstances of Black Adam’s early history, certain elements are consistent:

While serving as high priest to Ramses II, the wizard Shazam sought a successor to his godly powers. Impressed with his virtue and martial heroism, he chose Adam. Having determined to make Adam his successor, Shazam’s intentions were altered by the intervention of his half-demonic daughter Blaze. Blaze struck a bargain with the god Set so that when Adam speaks the word “Shazam,” instead of becoming the avatar of the wizard’s deific patrons, he becomes the avatar of the Egyptian gods Shu, Heru, Amon, Zehuti, Aton and Mehen.

He has the power of Shazam. And that is a testament of how powerful this being is. He can call upon the power of the Gods to aid him. Black Adam don’t shy away from bloodshed, instead he revels in it. At one time he is quoted as: “I swim in an ocean of blood and do not drown beneath the waves.” A lot of the time, he’s quick to anger and doesn’t care for the world outside of Kahndaq.

When he fights heroes and villains alike it is with much gusto. One of the only beings to make Superman bleed in the injustice series, Black Adam is a force to reckon with.

4. Doomsday

How can anybody overlook Doomsday? This villain killed Superman in one of the biggest story arc of DC in the 90’s. Created by writer-artist Dan Jurgens, Doomsday wrecked havoc from the day he was created. Originally known as “The Ultimate,” Doomsday was born in prehistoric times on Krypton, long before the humanoid Kryptonian race gained dominance over the planet about 250,000 years ago. It was a violent, hellish world where only the absolute strongest of creatures could survive.

When Superman “died” at the hands of Doomsday, DC shipped between 2.5 and 3 million copies of Superman #75, with most stores selling out of the issue on the day of its release. This is how iconic this villain is and maybe has most impact of the bunch.

3. Sinestro

Sinestro was created by John Broome and Gil Kane as an enemy of Hal Jordan and the entire Green Lantern Corps. He first appeared in August 1963 in the comic Green Lantern #7.

Actually Sinestro started out as a Green Lantern and the one training Hal Jordan into the corps. Sinestro was disgusted by most of Jordan’s tactics in keeping order and had virtually no tolerance for him… He completely disregarded the lives of criminals on Earth and would’ve easily murdered countless imprisoned felons, if it was not for Hal.

From Comicvine:

Sinestro had to return to his sector. As much as he didn’t want to, he had to bring Hal with him.

On Korugar – Sinestro’s space sector and home planet, Hal Jordan found out the ghoulish secret of his Master’s Success – By enslaving the entire planet with his Superior powers and destroying anyone who dares cross him. Sinestro, In panic of how much malice occurred while he was absent, Impatiently fought his planet who has prepared to fight back to him, And Hal even joined them on their attack on Sinestro. Sinestro was beaten by his so called “friend” and the people he thought worshiped him… And the people of Krouger were grateful for Hal’s triumph. Humiliated and Enraged, Sinestro returned to Earth, and Hal followed a good distance behind him.

On earth, Hal and Sinestro were Ambushed by robots sent by the Guardians to bring them both back to Oa, where Sinestro was put on trial for crimes against his sector. There, the Guardians found the Great Sinestro guilty for his crimes (with Hal Jordan pleading against him), and he was Stripped of his Ring, Mask, and GL insignia and banished into the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward, since at the time the Guardians did not allow a Death Sentence.

On Qward, he forged a new power ring out of the yellow impurity that Green Lantern rings were not able to effect – With help from his new allies, the Weaponers of Qward.

He is one of Green Lantern’s greatest villain ever since.

2.  Lex Luthor

Lex-Luthor-comic

There is no more iconic Superman villain as Lex Luthor period. Their time and names comes hand and hand thru the generations of comic fans. Described as: a wealthy, power-mad American business magnate, ingenious engineer, philanthropist to the city of Metropolis, and one of the most intelligent people in the world.

Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1940, first appearing in Action Comics #23, Lex has manipulated, undermined and defeated the man of steel time and again.

1. Joker

The baddest of the bad. If you watched the Dark Knight you’d love this maniacal monster but in the comics he’s even worse.

Created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson who first appeared in the debut issue of the comic book Batman (April 25, 1940) published by DC Comics. Joker has spread his psychotic notoriety ever since.

If you don’t know who the Joker is, I don’t know where you came from. And this is why he is the most iconic DC Villain ever.

Spider-man: Homecoming review

Spider-man: Homecoming review

I know, I know I messed somehow.

Laziness has taken me these past months that I semi-shelved this piece. Saw Wonder Woman and it floored me, just like it floored everyone else it seems. I just couldn’t write about her because every other article I saw in the net has praised the beloved heroine. I am also so lazy that I haven’t updated the DC article and haven’t touched the comics as well. I am sorry. Day job is an a*hole. Again I am sorry.

Watched Spider-man: Homecoming yesterday. And I liked what I saw. It was a fresh new take on our beloved character that even new kids from the 2000’s can even identify (Spidey’s big screen image has been rebooted 2 times already and has been played by 3 actors, so far).

This is Peter Parker struggling through his teens part, the essence that the two previous outing didn’t tackle so much, maybe because they were played by older actors. This is the growing up Peter time. Spidey at his most hilarious.

Tom Holland, although in my taste not the matinee idol face you can think of, pulled by far a superior performance of the three actors. Maybe because this time Sony, with my head nodding, sought the help of the Marvel gurus to help with their script and make Spider-Man fresh again. They didn’t need to doubt, as Marvel gave us this wunderkind of a film. No longer do we have a predictable death scene of Green Goblin and Gwen Stacy. What we have now is fresh storyline that nobody can guess.

I think that is the magic of the MCU. It gives us a new fresh prespective of what we read in the comics and make it fresh and brand new on-screen.

I thought Tony Stark would dominate the scenes but no, he took the back seat when he needed to and made Spider-man into the foreground. It’s basically the story of Spider-man like we aren’t used to. And because of this I just can’t wait for Thor to come-out. So far the MCU has brought in two critically acclaimed movies in Guardians of the Galaxy and Spiderman, it only keeps getting better and better.

Beauty and The Beast Review

Beauty and the Beast 2017 Film Review

Beauty and The Beast 2017 movieImage Credit

It’s been long since I posted something in here. It really feels new.

But for a “tale as old as time”, it’s been a fresh rehash of a classic Disney movie.

Okay, there is a few new twists in the movie; if you watched the old animated movie it’s basically the same. But it never dawned on me that this is an all-star cast; I only learned about this after the cast were basically turned back to humans. I started pointing out the cast to my girlfriend. Oh, there is Magneto, there is Obi-Wan, and so on.

Basically, the movie is almost entirely a musical, with a few more new songs inserted throughout the movie. Luke Evans is fantastic as Gaston although he looks so much mature for Emma Watson‘s Belle. Emma Watson‘s casting is splendid since she captured the essence of Belle – bookish and well-educated.

As with Disney tradition, comic relief was satisfyingly abound in the movie. Disney feels all-over. Of course, you can never miss singing along the familiar songs and be mesmerized by the visuals of the movie, although I have a small comment. When the cameras pan around it made me a little dizzy. But just slightly.

It is a family movie after all, anybody can enjoy – young and old, maybe the older even more because it brings up memories of childhood when we dream of castles, damsels, and princes alike.

If only real life were like that.

4/5

They have announced it – Star Wars The Last Jedi

Star Wars The Last Jedi!

I was browsing Facebook when the Star Wars page dropped this gem:

Star Wars The Last Jedi

It’s even more intriguing because Luke is there and he’s back as being the last of the Jedis?

Following the events of the   J.J. Abrams directed The Force Awakens, The Last of the Jedi promises to answer a lot of lingering question about the last episode.

The Last of the Jedi opens in December 2017. Excited for that.
